Mr D Farrow – Morgan Three Wheeler
With the changed design of modern vehicles and components many firms who once were able to service and repair starters and Dynamos have ceased to trade. I was delighted to discover your Company who were able to rectify a problem with my Dynamo. The work has been expertly carried out to my requirements and I am most impressed with the attention to detail concerning the finished component. You deserve to prosper.

Mr N Burdock – 1966 Panhard 24BT
I found them most helpful. Communications were excellent with the sales team and I received email and postal confirmation of receipt, which put my mind at rest. The cost was reasonable and when the Dynamo was returned to me and fitted once more to the Panhard. I started the car and the ammeter went straight to charging. Fantastic! Now the Panhard GB club have them on their preferred list as well.

Mr N Lawrence – 1924 Jowett Short 2
Just a brief note to thank you for the excellent service provided by both of you at Broadway Electrical. In this day and age it is so refreshing to find a company that not only does what is needed i.e., the dynamo overhauled but are prepared to assist further (with no additional costs) answering my technical (some would say stupid!) questions and generally helping to sort out the wiring problems with my car.

Mr J Alcock – 1965 Jaguar E type
I recently set you the task of mending the heater blower on my 1965 E type that had failed through lack of use. The part was returned in working order, but with no charge as you had been unable to locate spares to effect a permanent repair. The service was excellent and I felt I had located a supplier who would be able to “sort out” any of the electrical motors on the car. I would be pleased to recommend your firm to any classic car enthusiast.

Mr M Cheese – 1937 Fordson 25CWT Pickup
I was recommended to use Broadway Electrical by Oneill Vintage Fords for repairs to my dynamo. I would like to say that I was more than satisfied with your prompt service and the work carried out was exceptional and I would thoroughly recommend you to my friends and colleagues.

Trevor Farrington Ltd
We would like to take the opportunity to say that the work carried out by Broadway Electrical has been without doubt excellent. In our business of restoring classic cars, keeping orginal parts in good working order is essential. Replacing worn out parts with aftermarket equivalents takes valuable history away from the customer’s asset we are caring for and has to be avoided if at all possible. Knowing that Broadway Electrical takes pride in bringing back to life, parts that most people would give up on is a skill and quality that is rare these days. For that we thank you and cannot recommend your work enough!

Mr S Hyslop – 20/25 Rolls Royce

The dynamo on my 20/25 Rolls wasn’t charging and although the firm I bought the car from suspected the regulator, I thought the fault appeared to be with the dynamo. I contacted several firms who all offered to completely rebuild the dynamo, sometimes with completely unnecessary additions.

What I wanted was the fault located and repaired because the dynamo appeared to be in generally very good condition. I spoke to your man Rob several times and he was very helpful and obviously much more knowledgeable than the other companies about what made these particular charging systems work.

I sent the dynamo off and we spoke again several times about progress because the fault was somewhat tricky, as I had anticipated it could be. The problem was traced to a flaw in the armature, which was rewound and the front bearing replaced. The dynamo was then matched to a regulator which worked with it as Rob discovered that the newer electronic regulators wouldn’t do and the previous type of mechanical regulator was required.

I fitted the dyanmo the day it arrived back and it has been working perfectly since. This was a job very well done and I would certainly use your company again for any electrical repairs. I would also recommend your work to anyone wanting a proper repair or overhaul .

Mr S Paine – 1956 Jenson 541

I have had my 1956 Jensen 541 for seven years and when first told the starter motor had failed I was not sure how to deal with it as it was so old. A JOC contact advised I get in touch with you and after some telephone conversations we agreed to go ahead with the refurbishment. Two weeks later the ‘new’ motor was returned looking great. My local motor engineers who work on the car fitted it – with great difficulty as access is very restricted and includes working through the gearbox tunnel from inside the car! Result was the starter motor works a treat and the car is back on the road. The price was reasonable and acceptable given the age of the car. I would recommend Broadway to anyone who asks. Many thanks

Mr P Critchley – 1952 MGTD MNE 4

Thanks for a brilliant job of rebuilding my dynamo. I really appreciate the fast turn-round and your enthusiasm and knowledge.

1931 Austin 7 Box Saloon

The problem with the dynamo, was that it was not charging after standing for a short period. Broadway Electrical Services corrected the fault and returned it looking like new.

I found the company very friendly, always willing to give helpful advice. I would recommend this Company to anyone with electrical problems.”

Mr A Baker – 1965 Riley Elf

I recently asked you to repair the Lucas dynamo from a 1965 Riley Elf. The Elf has been restored from a wreck to concours standard and I was concerned that the dynamo, when repaired, would not fit in with the look of the rest of the car: I need have had no worries as the dynamo now looks like new: thank you. I am also extremely grateful to you for providing to me (without my asking) photographs of the dynamo’s internals prior to final assembly by you.

Mr T Cantelo- 1934 Packard Super 8

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all at Broadway with special thanks to Rob for the repair of my generator. It was nice to see the ampmeter go into the charge zone again. This is the second job I have had done at Broadway and I am highly pleased with the results. Rob is a mine of information on these old electrical systems and carries out the repairs in a very professional manner.
I would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody who needs repairs doing.

Mr G Stedman – 1936 Morris 8
I was very happy with the overhaul of my 6V dynamo and more than happy with the friendly service I got from Rob, I do hope he is still going strong, he really went out of his way to fix my dynamo for me.
Thanks again for all Broadway Electrics have done for me.

Mr B Cook – 1950 Triumph Renown
Having suffered a starter motor failure and being unable to fix it myself, i stumbled across Broadways website. Being a bit concerned about being able to get parts for a car which waqs built in 1950, i gave them a ring. When i phoned i was asked to hold while they got Rob from the workshop or should i say dusted him off from out the back, who was very confident that he could fix my unit, explained the fault and told me how much it would cost. From Bristol i sent the unit, once it arrived a received a call to say it was there and that once done i would recieve another call. This came within 48hours to say it was as suspected and now all done and reconditioned for the price agree, it was being sent back to me that day.

The service was extremely good, humour and very confidence inspiring. The unit did not come back in the condition i expected, it was far better, new cork strap and coat of paint.

To top it off i was given a whole of life guarantee, however i am not sure whos life this was based upon

If i need another unit reconditioning, i will have no hesitation in using Broadway again.

*Mark Cuthbert-Brown – 1938 BSA Scout (Series 6) front-wheel drive car *
My BSA’s 1933 6-volt starter failed after many years of abuse following a slightly bodged installation in a later car. Its commutator having been so badly worn that it was no longer functioning, I took the opportunity of having it rewound by Broadway on the assumption that this update would see it doing better in a 12-volt car. We didn’t anticipate that its pinion – which would seem to have been drilled badly off centre when it was adapted perhaps decades ago – wouldn’t be able to take the increased torque. It failed again just a couple of weeks before I was to take my daughter to her wedding. I cannot thank or recommend Rob and Broadway Electrical highly enough: they sourced a replacement shaft, rebuilt the unit and returned it to me in time for the big day.

David Vidler – 1937 Fiat by Ghia
We liked to thank Broadway Electrical for sorting the starter motor out , it works fantastic now.

Gary Whittam – 1964 Ford Mustang
“My Mustang is a rare ‘early production car’ built in 1964. The very earliest cars like mine were fitted with dynamos rather than the later alternators. I wanted to retain this original feature but wanted someone to sympathetically check the system and get working at its best. Broadway came up on a web search and based on the testimonials on their site I called them. In a modern disposable world, it was a pleasure to talk the team at Broadway who clearly understood veteran, vintage and classic car technology but also offered a first class customer experience. They arranged for my dynamo and regulator to be collected, dismantled and checked. They then called to give me a report, an indication of costs and a completion date. Unlike a lot of companies who want to take as much money as they can from each job, Broadway only did what was required, returning it to me exactly when they said they would and with the dynamo looking great and at a very reasonable cost. I will certainly use their great services again and would be very happy to recommend them to anyone wanting one of the wide range of services they can provide.”

Tony Pym – 1928 AC drophead coupe
The dynamo needed a complete recondition with rewinding of the armature, replacement bearings etc and, there was a more unusual request from me, I wanted it converted back to three-brush, correct for period (and the car’s original switch and wiring). Rob at Broadway was brilliant. He helped enormously with advice, including sending hand-drawn wiring diagrams and the dynamo was visibly excellent, both internally and externally, when returned. The system now works just as it did back in the 1920’s. First-rate service from this company and I highly recommend them!
